Micro Gearbox Manufactured Exactly as per Customer Drawings

At Kakade Laser, we routinely convert complex customer drawings into production-ready, make-to-print components. This recent project features a miniature planetary gearbox—only 30 mm long with a 23 mm body diameter—manufactured and assembled completely in-house to the customer’s specification.

Form factor: ~30 mm length × 23 mm diameter

Gears: ~5 mm diameter × 3 mm thick

Process highlight: Wire-cut with 0.1 mm wire

Tolerance achieved: ±10 microns (10 µm)

Operations: Wire-EDM, machining, inspection, assembly

Application: Precision motion / instrumentation

Built to Drawing, Not a Standard Product

We did not design this gearbox; we manufactured it exactly as per customer drawings. Our role was to validate manufacturability, produce micro-gears with tight tolerances, maintain run-out and backlash limits, and verify smooth gear meshing and rotation.

Precision Processes Used

Wire-EDM (Wirecut) for Micro Gears

0.1 mm wire enabled fine tooth geometry and clean root profiles

Stable cutting parameters ensured dimensional repeatability

Burr-free finishes reduced post-processing time

Close-Tolerance Machining & Fitment

Controlled press fits and shaft tolerances

Dial indicators and gauge blocks for run-out verification

Surface preparation for smooth, low-noise rotation

In-House Assembly & Inspection

Assembly performed under controlled conditions

Verification of backlash, smooth meshing, and concentricity

Visual and dimensional inspection documentation available on request

FAQs

Yes. Share complete drawings with gear data (module/DP, pressure angle, tooth count, tolerance stack-up). We’ll match the spec.

For similar projects we’ve delivered ±10 µm on critical dimensions.

Both. We can supply individual micro-gears or fully assembled sub-assemblies with inspection reports.
